Guti: Real Madrid Are Still Adapting

Guti believes that Real Madrid are still working on the new system introduced by Manuel Pellegrini and this partly explains their defeat in the Peace Cup by Juventus.

Los Merengues were eliminated at the semi-final stage by the Italians and some pundits have questioned the team's start to the pre-season campaign, as they have yet to impress.

Pellegrini has changed the tactics since taking over as coach, and Guti believes that the players are learning the new things that have been put in place.

"We've been working for a short time and we've already played a lot," he told the club's official website.

"I think it's normal for the team to somewhat deflate in the second half. We did improve, in respect to our previous match. The team is gradually assimilating the coach's ideas and finding its identity."

"Now we have to focus on our next games, for which the whole squad will be available. We will all fight to have a starting spot next year."

"But I don't know what happens to us against these teams. Juve had three chances and scored two goals. We need to improve on that in order to be better. We are playing well and adapting to the new style."
