The Spaniard has only returned to action lately but scored a brilliant free-kick to give Madrid a priceless win over Espanyol last weekend.
Now it looks as though he will be on the bench for the Madrid derby against Atletico and he told AS that he wouldn't change his team's position for that of Barcelona's.
"All I would swap is the position in the table. I would not change the way we are playing with theirs because we are in good form," he explained.
"There is agitation and they are not playing as they did before. Last year it happened to us and it is normal that there is a drop. Yesterday they had a difficult and tough match [against Real Mallorca]. The missed penalty could have changed things are then [Lionel] Messi came on."
"I always want them to lose. The way we go is to plan our season with the team we have and to reach the finals that we can. We have a big enough squad."
If Madrid can get one over on their rivals Atletico this weekend then they could potentially move just one point behind Barcelona in the league table.
However, Guti knows that it will be a tough game against los Rojiblancos, especially with Diego Forlan and Sergio Aguero present.
"One has the quality and the talent to score goals and the other is a predator in the box, he [Forlan] is one of the best forwards in the league," he declared.
"It is a game where the players do not need to be told much as it is a city rivalry, it is a big game for everyone and motivation will be at a peak. It is important to advance in the league and to get some morale for Tuesday [Champions League], which will be tough."
The Spanish midfielder was also asked about his compatriot Raul and former team-mate Ronaldo, who played his first match in over a year last night.
Guti admitted that he wants the Spaniard to be first-choice for every side but that Ronaldo is the best he has ever played with.
"I want him [Raul] to be able to play up front for Real Madrid, for Spain, for whatever team he wants," he said.
"He [Ronaldo] is the best forward I have played with, I wish him all the best. Football misses him and I hope that he gets well and returns to his best. He has been the best striker I have been alongside."
Finally, Guti spoke about title ambitions this season and declared that whilst it will be tough, Madrid will not give up on the league.
"When Madrid have a good run of form it creates respect. It is not fear, it is respect. It is hard to be champions, but we are going to fight to the end and have chances," he concluded.
