Guti aims to stay hot

After notching his first career goal for Spain, Real Madrid attacker Guti says he intends on continuing his fine form with both club and country.

The youngster faces a stiff battle for time at the Bernabeu with Ronaldo finally fit.

"Now my goal is to stay at this level and to play with Real Madrid," insisted Guti.

"Ronaldo has the advantage of being Real's star signing, but I think everyone will get a chance."

While Il Phenomeno convalesced, Guti tallied some important domestic and Champions’ League goals for Los Blancos.

Spain boss Inaki Saez was pleased to have the Merengue to spell the sidelined Juan Carlos Valeron in his lineup against Northern Ireland.

"Guti turned in a fine match and scored a magnificent goal," gushed Saez. "Now he has to confirm that form in coming matches and say 'Here I am and I'm here to stay'."
