Guardiola: Madrid Issues Won’t Affect Title Race

While everything is looking rosy over at Barcelona, arch nemesis, Real Madrid’s season keeps going from bad to worse.

The reigning La Liga champions yesterday saw the resignation of supremo, Ramón Calderón and it is the second administration in a row where the president has had to step down in the middle of the season.

But Blaugrana coach, Pep Guardiola does not believe that the chaos in Madrid’s hierarchy will affect their desperate charge for the league title.

“If we had lost in Pamplona [to Osasuna], the message to come out of Madrid would be that they have us firmly on their sights, that we are getting nervous,” he was quoted as saying by Sport.

“Madrid will not stop fighting for the title. They have already rediscovered their form and they are conceding fewer goals. Therefore we must continue pushing,” he added.

Guardiola then jokingly asked for some help from the press, should the ‘Men in White’ start to get too close for comfort.

“They will begin to really pressure us once the points difference drops below double digits, so, you must be prepared to react and play your part.”

Barcelona will play host to Deportivo La Coruña on Saturday while Los Blancos entertain bottom-placed, Osasuna 24 hours later.
