Gerrard on brink of quitting Liverpool

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is ready to ask for a move after being frustrated in new contract talks.
 
Gerrard's agent Struan Marshall opened negotiations last week with Liverpool officials about a new deal for the midfielder.

But The Sun says Gerrard has had a sensational bust-up with manager Rafa Benitez - and is heading for the Anfield exit door.

The Liverpool skipper is furious there has been NO improved pay offer from Kop bosses and NO more talks are planned.

Gerrard's new contract talks have reached deadlock as the club refuses to increase his current £60,000-a-week deal.

Real Madrid are waiting in the wings and will pounce once Gerrard indicates he is ready to ask away from Anfield.
