Geremi denies Fulham talk

Real Madrid's Cameroon international midfielder Geremi has insisted he is happy with a bit-part club role, despite reports of a move to Fulham.

The utility-player captained the national team to Olympic triumph last year and turned down a chance to join Chelsea this summer.

A transfer to Arsenal had also appeared to be in the pipeline but again nothing materialised and the player has played down suggestions that he is looking to move on despite pan-African radio station Africa Number One saying in their sports round-up programme on Sunday night that he was on his way to Fulham.

"I have confidence in Real and its politics," he told his website www.gereminjitap.com.

"I believe in coach Vicente del Bosque who has promised to give all players a chance as he turns the squad around and I am sure the time will come when I would command a first-team place in the squad."

Geremi was one of the pillars of 'The Indomitable Lions' during the African Nations Cup and the World Cup qualifiers.

He played 20 minutes in Real Madrid's 4-1 UEFA Champions League demolition of Anderlecht last week and also featured in the 4-2 defeat at Las Palmas at the weekend, and is therefore back on the Real scene.

He said: "I enjoyed every bit of the game. It was a fantastic performance which proves that the team is gradually getting into its usual championship rhythm."
