Garcia hopes dismissed

Deportivo president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro has declared that Real Madrid have no chance of enticing right-back Manuel Pablo Garcia away from them.

Lendoiro revealed on Monday that he had recently informed Madrid's sports supremo Jorge Valdano that he had no intention of letting the Spanish international go.

"It was a relaxed phone call. I told him there was no possibility of Manuel Pablo leaving the club," the president explained.

Both Manuel Pablo and his agent have admitted that they have been contacted by Madrid recently.

This led Lendoiro to launch a biting attack last week on the Spanish champions, whom he accused of behaving in an under-hand manner.

"If Madrid really want him then let them do the correct thing. First they must speak to the club, then pay his buy-out clause," Lendoiro said at the time.

Lendoiro's remarks mean that Manuel Pablo could only join Madrid if they paid an altogether unrealistic 15,000 million pesetas ($US 77.3m).
