Gago pleads: I can't rescue Real Madrid

Fernando Gago hopes Real Madrid fans do not expect miracles from him as he prepares to make his debut on Sunday against Deportivo La Coruna.

The young Argentine will play from the start alongside Emerson in coach Fabio Capello's midfield. Mahamadou Diarra will again be left on the bench.

For his part, Gago said: "I am no rescuer, nor do I want to be. I have come to help the team in every way I can. But I am not their saviour."

"I don't feel any pressure, it's the opposite. I took this transfer as a challenge because to come to European football, and more so to Madrid, it was very important for me. For that reason I do not feel any pressure."

"I know I can fit into the system here. I feel very comfortable and confident that those around me can help me show my best during games. The more time I have with my teammates, the better I will be."

"Capello hasn't spoken to me about Sunday. But I am ready for his call."
