French stars miss Bilbao clash

Zinedine Zidane and Claude Makelele have been named in the French squad so will have to miss Real's game with Athletic Bilbao on October 7.

Both players have been selected for France's pre-World Cup friendly against Algeria, which takes place the previous day.
France coach Roger Lemerre has not included former Real Madrid striker Nicolas Anelka in the squad, despite the fact that he has been showing some good form lately with PSG.

The surprise in the squad list is the return of midfielder Youri Djorkaeff, who has been brought back even though he has hardly figured for his club Kaiserslauten for nearly a year.
