France coach Deschamps impressed by Real Madrid defender Varane

France coach Didier Deschamps is delighted with the progress of Raphael Varane at Real Madrid.

The young defender has become a first-choice since the New Year.

Deschamps said: "He played three consecutive, very important matches. At the beginning of the season, he didn’t play very much, but since January he has been playing more and now he is a starting player on Real Madrid. At 19 years of age, that is not very typical; it says a lot about his calibre."
