Figo Willing To Retire From International Football

Portuguese midfielder Luis Figo says he is ready to step down from national team duty if he is blamed for his side's World Cup debacle.

The Real Madrid ace was just one of a number of poor performers in Japan and South Korea as Portugal went out in the first round of the tournament.

"If public opinion thinks I'm the culprit, I have no problem resigning from the team," Figo told A Bola.

He added that it wasn't his intention to quit, but if he was pointed out as one of those mainly responsible, he may not have an alternative.
