Figo wants to work with ex-Newcastle boss Robson

Real Madrid ace Luis Figo would welcome sacked Newcastle United manager Sir Bobby Robson at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real's Portuguese star Figo admits he still rates Robson as one of the best bosses he has ever played under after they spent two years together at Barcelona during the '90s.

Figo said: "I always wish the best for Mr Bobby Robson. I spent a good time with him and learnt a lot from him."

"He is a great manager but right now I think it will be difficult for him to come here because we have a manager."

Real president Florentino Perez has received 20 applications from bosses around Europe, including Robson, offering to step in.

Robson is in a legal wrangle to secure a pay-off from Newcastle for the 10 months left on his contract when he was sacked by the Toon last month.

He would have to forfeit that cash if he took another job.
