Figo on Real tour

Real Madrid leave Thursday for a pre-season tour of the United States and Asia without defenders Walter Samuel and Jonathan Woodgate but with want-away winger Luis Figo.

Figo's future was in doubt with widespread reports he will be joining European champions Liverpool.

Samuel was to undergo a nose operation while Woodgate, who missed all last season through injury, was continuing training under the supervision of the club's physios.
 
The former Newcastle defender was expected to be fit for the new season.

Madrid play friendlies in Chicago and Los Angeles before heading for China, Japan and Thailand.
