Ferguson knows Owen keen on Man Utd

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has spent the last weeks asking those close to Michael Owen whether he would be interested in moving to Old Trafford.
 
The Mail on Sunday says Ferguson has recently been sounding out those close to Owen to discover whether the former Liverpool player would welcome a return to the Premiership.

There has been little hesitation in the answer from the 25-year-old, who fears his World Cup status in Sven Goran Eriksson's England squad could be jeopardised by a season on the sidelines in Spain.

An £11 million transfer fee is written into an exit clause in Owen's £80,000-a-week contract at Real Madrid.
