Ferguson battles Man Utd board over Ronaldo sale

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is facing a boardroom battle over the future of winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Sun says Fergie is trying to broker a peace deal between Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney to make sure the Portugal winger can stay at Old Trafford.

But the board fear it is impossible and believe the hatred Ronaldo would face from English fans would be seriously detrimental to the club.

On Thursday, new Real coach Fabio Capello said he wanted Ronnie at the Bernabeu.

Now the United board want a £20million deal done - with all the funds going straight to boss Ferguson to buy a replacement.
