Faubert: I Can Play Well For Real Madrid

Real Madrid's latest signing is confident that he can be the right winger to balance the side and is keen to prove any doubters wrong.

Julien Faubert has stated that he would not have joined Real Madrid if he was not confident that he could do a job for the team and explained that his injury problems are in the past.

The French winger faced the media on his first day at the Bernabeu and explained that he thinks that he can step up a level and follow in the footsteps of fellow his compatriots.

Coach Juande Ramos was desperate to sign a new winger in the winter transfer window, but while it came as a surprise to the the fans Faubert has attracted Madrid's interest before.

"I would not have come if I thought otherwise. I believe I can do much for the team," he told reporters.

"This has not really been a big surprise. I had a chance to join either Real Madrid or Roma when I was at Girondins (Bordeaux), but I chose to go to England instead."

"I had some physical problems, but they are over now. I am very happy about signing for Real Madrid. I was injured more than a year ago and I feel physically fit."

"I've played 18 games with West Ham since I recovered and I am ready to play here."

Faubert reiterated his initial belief that Madrid's interest was a joke, but then revealed that he is now looking forward to proving any doubters wrong.

"When I heard about the signing at first I thought it was a joke because there were many rumours going around. I think my profile responds to the needs of the coach. I can play down the right wing. That's why Real Madrid signed me," he continued.

"Real Madrid represents everything to me. It is the best club in the world; a great institution with a very long history. Many great French footballers have played here and it makes me happy to join the club."
