Ex-Barcelona star Archibald: Mourinho transforming Real Madrid

Former Barcelona and Tottenham star Steve Archibald says he's a big fan of Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho.

While the Scot hopes Spurs beat Real in their Champions League quarterfinals tie, he cannot hide his admiration for Mourinho.

Archibald told the London Evening Standard: "Mourinho has effected a radical change at Madrid. No way are they the finished article and they don't always play beautiful football, not to my eye."

"But they have learned to scratch and bite their way back into matches when they are struggling - their season has been a tale of digging in when things aren't going their way and occasionally handing out a thrashing when they click. Jose is well known in England and he's not to everyone's taste but I'm a big fan."

"I like all his qualities. I particularly love his battling attitude. No fight is ever lost, on or off the pitch, and his teams always learn that from him."
