European Clubs Chase Diego

Great matches played for the Brazilian side Santos might lead the midfielder Diego to the European football scene very soon.

According to "La Gazzetta dello Sport", Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid are interested in the 17 year-old playmaker. And that's not all, the article published by the Italian paper also mentioned Inter and Bayer Leverkusen as possible destinations for the sensational teenager.

When asked about a move to Europe, Diego was diplomatic.

"Of course I would love to go to Europe, but I am not in a hurry. I have a contract with Santos and like the team that first gave me a chance", he said.

Happy with all the speculation, Diego revealed that he would prefer to play in Italy: "Its great to know that so many teams are supposedly after me. Milan would be great, but there are other interesting prospects. Juventus, for instance has a very similar jersey to Santos. The first club to make a good offer is good for me," he concluded.

According to his agent, Dino Lamberti, Diego will not stay at Vila Belmiro. "Its up to Diego to decide when to leave. He might leave in January, but I guess that will happen in June."

The club that really wants Diego will have to negotiate, as Santos wants US$ 50 million for their young talent.
