Eto'o talked round to consider Atletico Madrid option

Real Mallorca striker Sammy Eto'o has been talked round about a proposed move to Atletico Madrid for the new season.

Real Madrid intend to buy the 50 per cent rights Mallorca hold for the Cameroon international to take full ownership of his registration before immediately loaning him to Atletico for the new season.

Upon learning of the news, Eto'o is said to have flown into a rage. The exciting striker had his heart set on joining Barcelona this month.

However, after crisis talks with his management, Eto'o agreed to meet with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez on Monday. The player will refuse all interview requests until he has spoken with Perez.

Atletico remain hopeful that the striker will be talked round into moving to the Vicente Calderon. If Eto'o refuses, then Perez is expected to inform the 23 year-old that he will have to see out the three years he has left on his Mallorca contract without any opportunity of moving to another club.
