Emilio Butragueno disappointed with UEFA decision

Real Madrid assistant chairman and former Royal club player Emilio Butragueno expressed his regret for the UEFA decision about holding the 2003 Champions League final at Old Trafford.

"We nourished the hope that we would be the organizer of that prestigious tournament final but our hopes didn't come true. And now we don't have anything against that decision because Manchester deserves to have a right of hosting the Champions League final because of its football traditions," Butragueno declared.

Despite their great desire to host the Champions League final, Real Madrid assistant chairman didn't said whether they want to put forward Santiago Bernabeu's candidacy for the right of hosting the tournament final.

"I can't say anything precise. Now we have to be patient and wait. We must respect the UEFA's decision despite our great hopes," Butragueno concluded.
