Emerson warns Real Madrid: We've won nothing yet

Real Madrid midfielder Emerson has warned his team mates against complacency following the 2-0 win over Barcelona, saying they have won "neither the league, nor the Champions League".

Real put in a stylish display at the Bernabeu, with goals from Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Raul, capping an excellent week in which they also beat Steaua Bucharest 4-1 in the Champions League.
 
But despite recent successes the Brazil international insists his teammates must not get carried away and need to continue working hard to keep up their good form.

"I think we have put in two very good performances," said Emerson. "We played a good match yesterday against a great team."

"We can compete with Barcelona. We have to fight to stay at their level and that of the other teams. They are still in front of us and we have to keep on working hard."

Recent defeat at Getafe had shocked the capital's side, but two wins out of two against top opposition has restored confidence at the Bernabeu, and turned the tables on archrivals Barcelona.

"The match against Getafe was a disaster for us," he added. "The team played very badly, and we had to respond. Madrid simply cannot play like that, and we showed [in the two subsequent games] that we have character and pride. The talk we had after that game was very important."

Emerson was also quick to praise compatriot Robinho who was preferred by Capello to Jose Antonio Reyes. The skilful winger has struggled to secure a place in the side but with impressive performances, looks set to figure more regularly for Madrid.

"He is in great form at the moment. He has a great gift for pulling off spectacular tricks and moves, and that is very important."
