El Clásico Date Set By LFP

The Spanish league (LFP) have pencilled in Barcelona's meeting with Real Madrid for Sunday, December 23 at 19:00 (CET), but that could still all change.

El Clásico was rumoured to be set to take place on Friday, December 21, before the LFP put their foot down and said no games would be played on that date.

In accordance with their rules for arranging the fixture calendar week-by-week, the league has determined that the game will now be on pay-per-view in Spain.

The last late night game of the year on Saturday, will see Racing visit Sevilla, while the final evening kick off on Sunday will be Althetic Bilbao's home game against Real Murcia.

With the television companies still battling it out for control of the airwaves, Barça and Madrid could well be moved to suit Sogecable and Audio Visual Sport (AVS).

If one of the two companies is able to obtain the screening rights, then not only will they benefit financially, but they could also move the kick off time.

At 20:00 (CET) on Saturday, December 22, Real Zaragoza are due to play Valencia at home and Almería are entertaining Getafe, with both games being ppv.

That is a likely time-slot if the LFP agree to allow the game to be shown on terrestrial television, or it could be screened live at the original hour.
