Drenthe Impressed By Zenit

Royston Drenthe believes that Zenit can go a long way in Europe this sesaon after their impressive second half display against Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

The Dutch midfielder believes that the Russians will beat a lot of teams playing like they did in the Champions League encounter that they were unlucky to lose 2-1.

Madrid went ahead in the first half through Ruud van Nistelrooy, but then had to hold on for the final half an hour as Zenit attacked continuously but could not find a way through.

"A lot of teams are going to suffer there and I said that they had a very good team to them and could go a long way," Drenthe said.

Madrid are now focussed on playing Espanyol next weekend and Drenthe does not think that events against Barcelona will effect the Blanc i Blau when they visit the Bernabéu.

"They will be difficult. We want to win every game of course, but the league is tough and you can always lose some games," he continued.

"I saw the highlights, but a game between Real Madrid and Espanyol is not the same as a game between Barcelona and Espanyol."
