Don't get too confident, warns Real's Roberto Carlos

Real Madrid's Roberto Carlos warned Juventus not to get too confident ahead of their European Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday.

The Serie A leaders say they are not worried by Real, believing they can exploit what they consider to be a suspect defence in the manner of Real Mallorca who defeated the European champions 5-1 at the Bernabeu on Saturday.

"If Juventus come here thinking that they are going to outplay us then I'm sure we are going to make them suffer," the Real Madrid defender said on Monday.

"I hope that Juventus come here with revenge on their mind and try to win the game, because we will take advantage," added the Brazilian World Cup winner, referring to the 1998 Champions League final, in which Real beat Juventus 1-0.

Roberto Carlos is one of three Real survivors from that match who are likely to play on Tuesday - Fernando Hierro and Fernando Morientes are the others - although Raul Gonzalez will be watching the game from the director's box as he continues his recovery from a recent apppendix operation.

Real's French international Zinedine Zidane was in that Juventus' side five years ago.
"I think we will have a great game and this semi-final will be decided in the Bernabeu. You are going to see the best Real Madrid team that has walked out on a pitch this season," added Roberto Carlos.

"The reason for this is that we have to win and we are going to leave the dressing room with the same mental attitude that we had against Manchester United."

Real beat the English Premiership champions 3-1 in the quarter-final first leg in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, with a bewitching display of skilful football.

However, the Brazilian defender warned that Real might not be quite so entertaining against the Italians.

"This is the semi-final of the Champions League, It will be a completely different game to those we played against United because Juventus are a team that are most tactical. They have a counter-attack threat."

To counter the danger posed by Pavel Nedved, Alessandro Del Piero and their collegues, Roberto Carlos suggested Real may be a more cautious going forward and ensure that there will always be sufficient cover behind the ball.
