Disgruntled Savio unhappy at Real

Brazilian forward Savio has said he has not been given a fair opportunity at Real Madrid and has made it clear that he will not renew his contract when it expires at the end of next season.

The speedy international told Spanish sports daily Marca on Friday that just because he played in Real's comfortable 4-0 midweek cup win against third division Playas Jandia did not mean he was being given a chance by the champions.

"The game might have been an opportunity for someone else, but not for me because I have already shown what I can do," he said.

"It is not right that I am just playing once every two months - I just don't understand it."

The 27-year-old claimed that no matter how well he played he could not get a place in the team, citing the example of his performance against Lokomotiv Moscow in the Champions League last month.

"I played well against Lokomotiv, scored a goal and was then straight back on the bench for the next match," he said.

Real coach Vicente del Bosque has tended to opt for England's Steve McManaman or Argentine international Santiago Solari on the left of midfield rather than Savio, who joined Real five seasons ago from Brazilian side Flamengo.

"I love playing and at Flamengo I was in the first team alongside Romario and scored over 100 goals. But at Madrid it has been different and I have never really played in my true position," he said.

He added that he was planning to see his contract, but would then look to move away from the club on a free transfer.

"I want to stay at the club for the two years I have left on my contract, but it is certain that I am not going to renew the deal after that," he said.
