Depor trainer: Eliminating Bayern is historic

An 89th minute Roy Makaay strike won Deportivo La Coruna last night's crucial Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.

The Dutchman's effort secured the 2-1 win for Depor, after Roque Cruz had equalized for Bayern Victor's 55th minute opener.

Depor are now just about qualified for the next phase, but must travel to Milan with second place still up for grabs.

"It has been a history making game," said Depor trainer Javier Irureta.

"The fact to see, to compete and to surpass them (Bayern) gives cause for great satisfaction for all the deportivismo."
