Depor slam Carlos comments

Deportivo players have blasted Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos' comments that Depor are bound to slip up in the final stretch of league games.

Full-back Joan Capdevila warned: "He's wrong to underestimate us."

While they are a sizeable six points behind with just four matches to play, Depor players believe that Roberto Carlos' comments on Monday reveal Madrid's nervousness after a run-in which they have gained only two points from their last nine.

"Madrid have run out of strikers and will be without Helguera and Hierro as well for the Rayo match. Their results are nowhere near as good as a few months ago," coach Javier Irureta declared.

Deportivo play at 15th-placed Oviedo on Sunday while Madrid visit neighbours Rayo Vallecano, who lie in 13th-place.

"We can’t be ruled out yet. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain," Brazilian Mauro Silva added.
