Del Bosque unveils rotation system
Vicente Del Bosque has decided that the only way to complete a hectic season is to rotate the squad to stop players from burning out.
Vicente Del Bosque has decided that the only way to complete a hectic season is to rotate the squad to stop players from burning out.
Del Bosque was criticised last season for sticking to the same eleven but this time he seems to have taken a leaf out of Deportivo boss, Javier Irureta's book.
Cesar Sanchez has been sharing goalkeeping duties with first choice stopper Iker Casillas during the pre-season, indicating that Cesar will be given more minutes this season.
Also brought back into the side is Santiago Solari, who Real bought from neighbours Atletico Madrid last summer to act as understudy for Roberto Carlos. Now Del Bosque feels that Solari is coming into his own on the left wing, where he will doubtless fight for a place in the side with Savio, Steve McManaman and Pedro Munitis.
The rotation method will ease the pressure on the squad, particularly for the international players such as Roberto Carlos, Luis Figo, Fernando Hierro, Raul, Claude Makelele and Casillas, whose seasons look set to be busier than ever with the World Cup looming next summer.
