Del Bosque says he's been airbrushed out of Real history

Former Real Madrid coach Vicente del Bosque, sacked barely 48 hours after leading the club to a record 29th title, says the club have virtually airbrushed him out of their history - even though he won them two Champions League titles.

Del Bosque was dismissed in June and replaced by Portuguese Carlos Queiroz and ABC daily on Wednesday said he felt sore about the whole affair after taking the club to the pinnacle of the world club game by signing the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo.

"I detect that official club channels are avoiding making any reference to me," said Del Bosque, who on Tuesday aired several of his grievances in an interview on Basque television channel ETB.

"Real Madrid Television doesn't make any references to those four years (that he was coach) which were marvelous for the club."

But Del Bosque admitted he always knew he would be for the chop one day in a league which hires and fires at will.

"I was always sceptical about continuing at the club for a long time. I know the football world," he explained.

Queiroz, currently with Real on their Asian tour, hinted only this week that he knew the guillotine would likely fall on his own neck one day.

"All I know is that you're born and you die," he told reporters when asked what his own long-term future might hold - though as a manager he might have added that the sack is also eventually part and parcel of every coach's existence.
