Del Bosque praises troops

Real Madrid coach Vicente del Bosque reckons that his side thoroughly deserved their 2-0 victory over bitter rivals Barcelona on Sunday night.

Fernando Morientes put Real ahead after 23 minutes following a defensive hiccup from the Catalans and the match was sealed by former Blaugrana, Luis Figo who celebrated his 29th birthday with a clinical drive inside the right post two minutes into injury time.

Del Bosque gave his verdict on the game afterwards, he said: "Barcelona had more possession but lacked depth, the opposite to us."

"During the first half, we were inconsistent in midfield and Barca took advantage of that. Later on we corrected our mistakes and in the end were better positioned on the field than them."

"I'm very happy, especially with the courage shown by all our players on the day."
