Del Bosque happy with draw

Vicente Del Bosque was satisfied with Wednesday's 1-1 Champions League draw against Roma, which puts Real through to the second phase.

The result leaves Real as unbeaten champions of Group A and in an enviable position for next month's draw.

Roma took the lead through Francesco Totti in the first half and, although the goal unsettled Real, they managed to pull back a goal with a 74th-minute penalty converted with ease by Luis Figo.

"Our team was slightly superior during a game in which both teams displayed a high level of football," Del Bosque said.

"We played an orderly game, like against Celta and Anderlecht, and with great enthusiasm."

The Real coach did not want to enter into discussions about the problematic penalty decision that had Roma up in arms. The Italians are pointing the finger at Michel Salgado, who carried on playing whilst Roma defender Jonathan Zebina was on the floor injured. The move ended with a penalty being awarded after Cafu handled in the box.

"I'm the kind of bloke who likes to see good sportsmanship prevail, but in this case, there was much confusion and a series of falls, some simultaneously, that led up to the incident."

"There's no point in putting more importance on it," he concluded.

Real finish as champions of Group A with 13 points, and they play the final game of the first stage at Lokomotiv Moscow next week. Roma are also through to the next round, second with eight points.
