Del Bosque diaappointed at another Real defeat

Real Madrid coach Vicente Del Bosque has criticized his squad for lacking interest in winning after losing 2-1 against Real Zaragoza. "We were the better side for much of the game, so I am obviously disappointed to lose," said Del Bosque.

He went on to say: "But despite having so much possession, we again let ourselves down in the creation of clear chances. I am surprised by how a game with so few opportunities produced three goals. But, as I have said, I am happy that we were better in many departments and the only downside was our display in the final third of the field."

Del Bosque stated that he had good reason for taking scorer Raul off, as well As Steve McManaman and Ivan Helguera: "I had to make changes to bring freshness to the team."

"I wanted more attacking options with Pedro Munitis and Guti, but in the end that didn’t work."

But their opponents believe that they had the win from the first goal. "The goal at the end meant that there was some justice served. We deserved to win the match from beginning to end," said Zaragoza coach Txetxu Rojo.

"This is a very important victory, because beating Madrid shows that, when we perform well, we are capable of anything. We were superior in the first half with good passing and the pressure we put on their goal," he added.

With the win, Zaragoza leapfrogs Madrid to take 10th place in the Spanish top flight. The Madrid-based side has not had its best season thus far thanks to mediocre output from a squad that, on paper, should be able to win any competition quite handily.
