Del Bosque delight at Euro opener

Real Madrid coach Vicente del Bosque could not hide his satisfaction at Tuesday's 2-1 victory over Roma in the Champions League.

Real, without Zinedine Zidane, recovered their form of the past two seasons using their classic 4-4-2 formation.

Del Bosque explained: "We are at the start of the competition and could not have wished for a better start. Roma could have levelled the score at the end of the game and the fact that we faced such a quality rival makes the win even more special."

"We were ordered, had greater possession of the ball and played with clarity up until the final
whistle. In short, we've recovered all the values that made us strong last season."

Real have been criticised over the signing of Zidane, whose undisputable inclusion in the side has caused problems for the Madrilenos, but del Bosque is confident that the French ace will find his feet.

"We have the good fortune to be able to call on Zidane and this team could be even better with his presence," he concluded.
