Danilo ruled out for a month with right foot injury

Real Madrid right-back Danilo has been ruled out for the next month after suffering a plantar fasciitis tear in his right foot while on international duty with Brazil.

Real Madrid announced on Thursday that Danilo, who was given the starting nod over Dani Carvajal this season, will be out for the next month with the muscle tear.

"Following the tests carried out on Danilo today in the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with a plantar fasciitis tear in his right foot. His condition will be evaluated."

Danilo joins fellow South American, James Rodriguez, who was also ruled out for the next month after suffering a right thigh muscle tear in Colombia’s match against Peru.

However, despite the set-back in his young Real Madrid career, Danilo is keeping a positive attitude and sent a message out to his fans assuring them that he will return to action very soon.

Dani Carvajal will now start for Danilo, as he tries to prove to manager Rafa Benitez that he is the right man for the right-back spot, as was the case when he originally took over the position from Alvaro Arbeloa.
