Danilo and Marcelo sent to convince Neymar to join Real Madrid

Real Madrid full-backs Danilo and Marcelo are working hard to convince Barcelona superstar Neymar to swap the Camp Nou for the Bernabeu, according to Don Balon.

Neymar has emerged as a shock target for Florentino Perez in the past few days with the 23-year-old’s future at Barcelona uncertain, per the report.

Talks are ongoing over a new contract with last season’s Champions League winners but Neymar admitted, per ESPN, he wouldn’t rule out a move away from the Club.

The article goes on to suggest that Perez is desperate to bring the 23-year-old to the Spanish capital, and is using every approach possible to entice Neymar.

The club president is reportedly prepared to offer him astronomical wages and the promise of becoming Real Madrid’s newest main man, taking over from Cristiano Ronaldo.

And Perez has also enlisted the help of Danilo and Marcelo to get their international teammate to Los Blancos, Don Balon claims.

Danilo in particular, per the report, is a close friend of Neymar from their time together at Santos, while the Barca superstar is also on great terms with Marcelo, with the duo selling Real Madrid as a possible destination.

Don Balon also claims that Neymar is tempted by a move away from Barcelona to escape the shadow cast by Lionel Messi, with the Brazilian eager to win the Ballon d’Or.

Neymar has proven his ability to become a world class talent this season having scored 14 goals in 13 league appearances, with eight of those coming in the five matches Messi missed through injury.

The Brazilian has struck up a wonderful partnership with fellow South American Luis Suarez. Across La Liga and the Champions League in 2015/16, the duo have netted 34 of Barcelona’s 51 goals.

Neymar has also made eight assists in those competitions, with Suarez on five.
