Cristiano Ronaldo won’t play for Real Madrid until early September

Cristiano Ronaldo given a month off by Real Madrid.

Eight days ago, Cristiano Ronaldo lifted the Euro 2016 trophy at the Stade de France as Portugal stunned the continent.

After playing just 25 minutes of the final due to a kick from Dimitri Payet, there were serious fears that Ronaldo could be out for around four months.

On Monday, Marca have given an update on Ronaldo’s fitness and it looks like he will be out for a month but will not play for Real Madrid until after the first international break of the season.

As you would have expected, Cristiano Ronaldo will miss all of Real Madrid’s pre-season matches as well as the European Super Cup match against Sevilla on August 9, 2016.

The La Liga season kicks off on August 21 for Real Madrid at Real Sociedad and is followed by another match the following week versus Celta Vigo.

Ronaldo will be unavailable for both games.

The Portuguese superstar will be given a full month to rest and recuperate and has also been receiving treatment in Ibiza, for his injured knee.

Ronaldo’s first match for Real Madrid in 2016/2017 will be against Osasuna on September 11, 2016.

It will be a match at the Bernabeu, against a newly promoted team, which is as comfortable as Los Blancos could have wished for.

This also means that Ronaldo will miss two Portugal matches, a friendly against an as yet unnamed team and a World Cup qualifier versus Switzerland.
