Cristiano Ronaldo: Rayo Vallecano goal was great, but not my best ever

Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo was happy with his goal in Sunday's 1-0 victory against Rayo Vallecano, but stressed it was not his best strike to date.

The Santiago Bernabeu outfit continues to set the pace at the Liga summit with a solitary second half strike from Ronaldo, who scored with a back-heel as he chased the ball away from goal.

The Portuguese was delighted to add a different repertoire to his collection, but revealed it wasn't the first time he scored with his back to goal.

"It was a very good goal, because a back-heel goal is always different," he told reporters. "It was a great goal, but not the best of my career so far. This is not the first back-heel goal of my career, because I had already scored one while at Manchester United."

"I have to watch the video of my goal because I do not think it is my most beautiful goal to date."

Ronaldo then admitted that it was a hard-fought win over Rayo for Madrid, who remain 10 points ahead of Barcelona in the table.

"The most important thing was the victory because this was a very hard match," he asserted. "This was our hardest match on the road this season. Rayo are a great team."

Madrid is back at home this coming Sunday when it entertains Espanyol.
