Cristiano Ronaldo and Co put through their paces as Real Madrid prepare for friendly against Manchester City

Real Madrid battled the cold once again to hit the training ground ahead of their pre-season match against Manchester City on Friday.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Co were put through their paces by manager Rafa Benitez as they ramp up their match preparation for the International Champions Cup clash. 

Melbourne is in the midst of experiencing some of its coldest weather in recent years and there were plenty of players wearing gloves and hats as they bid to beat the dip in temperature.

Benitez will be hoping for a better performance against the Premier League giants after watching his side fall to a penalty shoot-out defeat against Roma in his first match as Madrid boss.

Martin Odegaard started for the Spanish side and looked bright alongside Gareth Bale and Ronaldo but Real struggled to create many clear-cut chances.

Daniele De Rossi smacked the crossbar and Keylor Navas made a couple of good saves but that was as exciting as it got until the spot kicks at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The game went to a penalty shoot-out where Roma triumphed 7-6 after Lucas Vasquez missed and Seydou Keita slotted home the crucial spot kick.

Madrid star Ronaldo showed off his usual silky skills during the warm-up session at AAMI Park training ground. 

After their clash with City, the squad will fly out to China to play a further two International Champions Cup fixtures against Italian giants AC and Inter Milan.
