Crespo Not Coming To Real Madrid - Calderón

The Real Madrid president has revealed that he does not believe Hernán Crespo will be a player that the club sign in January, but has been told that two potential stars are on their way.

Ramón Calderón has stated that he thinks that Hernán Crespo will not be one of Real Madrid's signings in the winter transfer window, after weeks of speculation.

Los Merengues' president did assure the club's beleaguered supporters that new arrivals would happen in January, but that the Argentinian would not be one of them.

Crespo was said to be a Madrid target after they stepped up their quest to sign a striker when Ruud van Nistelrooy was ruled out for the rest of the season with an injury.

"I do not believe that he will come," Calderón told Radio Marca when asked about Inter's Argentinian goalscorer.

Reports had suggested that Madrid wanted Crespo on loan for six months and would then consider whether to keep him, but the 33-year-old wanted a full-time 18-month deal to leave Italy.

Instead, Calderón is confident that the two new arrivals that will bolster Bernd Schuster's squad will be players for the future and will excite the fans.

"There will be some movement in seven or ten days," he explained. "They tell me that they will be two young players, with great potential who are forwards and will help the squad. They will also be able to play in the Champions League."

Calderón's insistance that he is being told about the signings maybe a bid to distance himself from the club's signings after he has been criticised in recent weeks for his failure to land the players he promised in his pre-election campaign.
