Congo snubs Bayer offer

Real Madrid striker Edwin Congo has rejected a move to Bayer Leverkusen who were hoping to take the star to the Bundesliga over the winter break.

Bayer officials arrived at the Bernabeu last week to slap an offer on the table for Congo but the 24-year-old Columbian was left unconvinced. Real have been desperately trying to find a club for Congo, now in his third season with The Merengues but would prefer to see the player sign for a foreign club rather than their direct competition in La Liga.

Congo held a trial at Kaiserslautern some weeks ago but failed to agree terms with the German outfit.

Zaragoza and Tenerife also made enquiries about the player over the summer but no deal materialized.
