CL Report: Lokomotiv Pull Off Draw In Madrid

Real Madrid only got a draw from the encounter against Lokomotiv on the second matchday of the Champions League. Raúl opened the score, but two goals by Obiorah and Mnguni put Real Madrid on the ropes. Raúl was the most active white player and also made the final draw.

The Whites wasted many chances, especially in the first half.

The game was a one-side issue, and even more so when Raúl scored his fantastic beautiful goal. The striker got a wonderful pass from Ronaldo and, after dribbling past Evseev, he kicked a centre shot that took the Russian goalie by surprise.

We had to wait 50 minutes until Raúl scored again. And yet, many things happened in that period, most of them against Madrid. Makelele had to leave with an injury (Ronaldo, Hierro and Roberto Carlos would get injured later on too).

Obiorah and Mnguni turned the match round giving rise to many doubts among the crowds. Raúl's goal brought the calm back to the stands. From that moment, unlucky Guti (he had replaced Ronaldo during the break) had two good opportunities to score, just like Figo, Raúl, Zidane…, but they all came to nothing.
