Chivu Can Go If He Wants

Ajax president Michael Van Praag has increased speculation that Christian Chivu will leave at the end of the season by saying the club will not stand in his way if he wants to move on.

"It's true that Real Madrid have come to us to find out about Chivu but we've also had calls from clubs in Italy and England," he said.

"He's a great player and very important for us at the moment, but if he wants to try another experience in Italy, Spain or England then we won't stand in his way."

"His contract with Ajax expires in 2006 and we would love him to stay here, but I say again that it will be a decision he will take at the end of the season."

"If he wants to leave there won't be a problem. We'll negotiate with all the clubs interested in him."
