Chelsea to out-bid Man Utd for Salgado

Chelsea are ready to make Real Madrid fullback Michel Salgado a contract offer next week.

Salgado has been handed a deadline to the end of the month to accept new terms offered by Real.

Manchester United are ready to double the player's wages for him to move to Old Trafford next season.

But Chelsea are also keen and Spanish radio reported yesterday that a £3 million-a-year contract offer will be tabled to Salgado's agents next week. That's a clear £1 million-a-year more than what United are offering.
