Chelsea Target Cut-Price Move For Wesley Sneijder
The Blues appear to have turned their attentions to Real Madrid's Dutch midfielder
Chelsea are reportedly set to make a move for unsettled Real Madrid ace Wesley Sneijder, according to a report in the News of the World.
The Dutchman’s position at the Bernabeu looks very uncertain, particularly following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.
However, Sneijder has insisted he wants to stay and fight for his place at Real.
“I'd like to stay and hope coach Manuel Pellegrini will give me a chance but there are many rumours,” he said.
Despite Sneijder’s words, Chelsea remain keen on the midfielder and are reportedly set to make signing the Real man their top transfer priority.
The Blues have already been frustrated in their attempts to sign Franck Ribery and Alexandre Pato but may now be ready to step up their attempts to strengthen their squad.
Sneijder signed for Madrid just two years ago from Ajax for €27 million but Chelsea will be hoping they can secure their man for far less, with Real reportedly willing to offload the 25-year-old.
Should the Blues succeed in their attempts to sign the Dutchman, he will join Daniel Sturridge who has completed his move from Manchester City to Stamford Bridge.
