Chelsea's Makelele slams Real Madrid management

Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele has slammed former club, Real Madrid, claiming the management does not respect the players.

The French international told Kicker: "I could not have stayed at a club that does not show respect to its players."

"I asked Marcel Desailly about Chelsea, as I had to consider many offers, and he convinced me that Chelsea would be England's biggest club in the near future and would be good for my international career."

"I did not join for money. It was because there was a problem between the players and the director."

"Chelsea made me feel wanted, from the coach through to the chairman."
