Chelsea ready to battle Man City for La Liga hit man

Chelsea and Man City are all set to table bids for disgraced Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema, according to the latest transfer gossip.

Benzema seems to always being linked with a move away from the Bernabeu and this transfer cycle is no different. However, there appears to be substance to the latest speculation surrounding the Frenchman.

For starters, it is being reported that he has fallen out with the Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez, and then there is that sex scandal.

Benzema is facing charges of conspiracy to blackmail his French team-mate Mathias Valbuena over a sex tape, which has resulted in his suspension from the French National team and caused a strain to be opened up with the Spanish giants over a perceived lack of support.

All this has apparently opened up the door for Chelsea and Man City, who are both seeking a striker to bolster their front lines.

It would be a good battle between the two money bag clubs and one that could possibly dominate the January transfer window.
