Chelsea must wait for Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos

Chelsea must wait until after Real Madrid's presidential elections to sign wing-back Roberto Carlos.
 
Real Madrid insist any transfer cannot be sanctioned until a new club president is elected.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho wants Brazil left-back Carlos, 33, after landing Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko.

But Real vice-president Emilio Butragueno said: "We believe it would be better not to decide anything until after the elections on July 2."

"It's logical the next president and his advisors should decide if they want Roberto. We'll see how they feel about him and Chelsea and a definite decision will be taken on his future."
