Antonio Conte is asking owner Roman Abramovich to splash the cash on James Rodriguez and hijack Manchester United’s deal for Alvaro Morata at the last minute, according to the Spanish media.
According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, Antonio Conte has asked Chelsea to offer Madrid more than Manchester United’s €70 million for Morata and then match the €80 million asking price for playmaker James Rodriguez.
Receiving €155 million for both players is something Real Madrid be delighted with and both bids would very likely be accepted.
This may well be Spanish media adding to the drama of Rodriguez and Morata’s next move or there may well be some substance to it.
Chelsea tried to sign Morata last summer before he moved to Madrid. Conte has worked with Morata at Juventus and it seems the pair have a very good relationship, something the Spanish striker may want to resume with a move to Stamford Bridge.
