Chelsea go cold on Real Madrid's Beckham

Chelsea are having second thoughts over their interest for Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham.

The England captain's poor Euro2004 has raised concerns at Stamford Bridge, where club chiefs are aware that Real are considering putting the midfielder up for sale.

A Chelsea source told The Sun: "You would not pay £20m for Beckham now.

"In fact, you might not even pay £10m - especially when you consider his wages are more than £100,000 a week."

"Chelsea have the money but they are not stupid and by next May he will be 30."

"It had been discussed to go for him next summer but it is not something the club is really planning for at the moment."

"It might be back on the agenda if he has a good season at Real. It is a case of wait and see."
