Chelsea Closing In On Robinho’s €40m Figure

It appears that Real Madrid’s “Not For Sale” sign is simply not enough to fight off Chelsea’s persistent attempt to sign Robinho. The Blues are now closing in on the golden €40 million figure required to lure the Brazilian away from the Bernabéu.

In a space of 24 hours, Chelsea have increased their bid for Robinho from £25 million (€31.5m) to £28.4 million (€35.7m). But realizing that that would not be sufficient, the Blues have now upped their offer one more time to £29.4 million (€37m), according to Spanish daily, Marca.

That amount is only €3 million shy of Real Madrid president, Ramón Calderón’s definitive valuation of the Brazilian. Calderón had previously insisted that the wing-wizard is absolutely not for sale, but even if he was, it would cost any potential suitors at least €40 million to even open negotiations.

And that could be exactly what Chelsea are about to pull off.

Barcelona-based Sport has reported that their executive director, Peter Kenyon is set to land in the Spanish capital in the next few hours to make the €37 million proposal to Calderón in one last attempt to take the 24 year old to Stamford Bridge.

That amount is likely to be shot down, but with just a measly €3 million separating the West Londoners from their dream signing, Kenyon could just make that magical €40 million offer to Calderón.
